DO YOU SUFFER FROM KNEE PAIN?
The cause of pain can be due to posture, gait, or where strain has been put on particular muscles such as the quads, hamstrings, and the illiotibial band. This causes general imbalance to the whole area, which then puts strain on tendons and ligaments. A repetitive action during a sporting activity, or a direct force on the muscle or tendon, can also cause pain and discomfort.
- Quads and hamstrings, illiotibial band
- Anterior cruciate ligament sprain
- Medial collateral ligment sprain
- Meniscus Tear
Common Conditions Treated:
Anterior Cruciate Ligament Sprain
The cause of injury is when a forceful twisting has been applied to the knee when the foot has already been planted on the ground. Symptoms are immediate pain which might go away, then swelling in the knee joint, instability of the knee especially around the tibia.
Medial Collateral Ligament Sprain
Cause of injury is a force applied to the outside of the knee joint. Symptoms are pain over the medial portion of the knee, swelling and tenderness, and some instability in the knee, and severe pain whist walking.
The cause is a forceful twisting of the knee joint when the knee has been bent, and may also be accompanied by ligament strains as well. Symptoms are pain in and around the knee joint, some swelling may be seen, and a catching or locking may be felt in the joint.
Although one session is highly beneficial, regular massage treatments maximise the numerous benefits.
